Carolina Valadas

Junior Consultant

Carolina is a Junior Consultant at TrustWorks with experience in foreign policy, peacebuilding, conflict prevention and mediation, and regional conflict analysis.

Originally from Lisbon, Carolina studied in the Lycée Français international French system school, having moved to Paris to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the Sorbonne University, later specialising in a Master’s Degree on Peace, Conflict and Security in Barcelona at the Ramon Llull Blanquerna School of International Relations. She is currently pursuing an online course on International Humanitarian Law at Leiden University. Carolina has Humanitarian field experiences in Nepal and Indonesia, wishing to collaborate in future field experiences. Carolina’s master’s thesis focused on the impact of social justice fighting Gender-Based Sexual Violence, looking at Litigation systems and Feminist Peacebuilding efforts in The Democratic Republic of Congo.

Carolina started her career in Brussels as Research and Executive Assistant to the Director of Europe and MENA region at the Institute for Economics and Peace, working on Positive Peace and contributing to analysis such as the Global Peace Index, the Global Terrorism Index and the Ecological Threat Register. Later interning at International Crisis Group, ACTED, and Promediation, providing work in the fields of Government Relations and Conflict Mediation.

In addition to her work at TrustWorks, Carolina is currently a consultant to the European External Action Service working on conflict analysis, conflict-sensitive programming in the Mediation and Conflict Prevention Unit.
