Ethical Trade Sweden workshop
[26 May 2026]
The membership organisation, Ethical Trade Sweden, invited TrustWorks CEO and founder, Josie Lianna Kaye and TrustWorks senior advisor, Claude Voillat, to provide a deep dive on heightened human rights due diligence (hHRDD) in a workshop dedicated to the topic.
Josie set the stage by explaining why companies must focus conflict-affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAs) because these contexts pose very unique and significant material risks. She then provided an overview of the growing body of regulation covering this topic and what this means for companies with business activities in CAHRAs. She elaborated on the term “conflict-specific due diligence” – encompassing attention to both IHL and hHRDD – and providing insights on meaningful starting points for companies. Finally, Josie highlighted three key steps for companies to align corporate practices with CAHRAs before opening the floor for questions. Josie and Claude had a rich and engaging discussion with the members before closing the session.
A special thanks to Christopher Atapattu Riddselius and Ethical Sweden Norway for inviting us to the workshop.
