Simon Ehmsen

Research & Programme Officer

Simon is a Research & Programme Officer at TrustWorks. He supports the CEO and Senior Advisors on initiatives related to responsible business in fragile- and conflict-affected settings and is particularly interested in how businesses can contribute actively to peace and play a more proactive role in mitigating conflict risks.

Simon is experienced in conducting conflict analyses and enjoys working with key concepts such as conflict sensitivity, Do No Harm, peacebuilding, and social cohesion. He recently gained a keen interest in using data science as a tool for understanding drivers of conflict.

Simon started his career as an intern at TrustWorks and went onto become Junior Consultant. During his internship, he stayed in the French alps where he also assisted TrustWorks’ Senior Advisor Oli Brown on various projects related to climate change and security, environmental politics, and natural resource management.

Simon recently graduated from the University of Southern Denmark with a Master’s degree in International Security and Law. In his master’s thesis, he examined the role of climate change in contemporary conflict based on three selected case studies.
